History
Sponsored by the Eastport Yacht Club, the holiday tradition known as the Lights parade brings a great deal of joy to people in the Annapolis area. Boats of all shapes and sizes are decorated with thousands of lights, often strung on frames to form fantastic sculptures that glitter in the frigid December air. Boat owners start their preparations months in advance, and some need gas-powered generators to provide enough electricity to light up their creations. Thousands of spectators line the banks of Spa Creek to watch the spectacle, which has taken place annually for over 20 years despite high winds, rain, ice, snow, and frigid temperatures.
