Mount Vernon was the home of George Washington, America's first president, and is located in Virginia, less than 20 miles from the nation's capital. The property on which it stands was originally granted to Washington's great-grandfather by King Charles II, and it remained in the Washington family for seven generations. George Washington spent much of his childhood here and it was to Mount Vernon that he returned after leading the Continental Army to victory in the Revolutionary War. He was once quoted as saying "I can truly say I had rather be at home at Mount Vernon with a friend or two about me, than to be attended at the seat of government by the officers of Sate and the representatives of every power of Europe."Product Information
